Building empathy in young men
This workshop experience is a powerful tool for educators and wellbeing teams seeking to deepen the social and emotional learning of their male students and create a school culture that promotes inclusivity and understanding.
Increased connection and compassion for women is at the core of In Her Shoes, empowering young men to empathise with women's experiences and engage in meaningful conversations, not just about them, but with them. Through active engagement and personal reflection, students are guided through participatory activities that provide insight into supporting gender equity and fostering connections that promote allyship.
The session is co-facilitated by our Tomorrow Man and Tomorrow Woman teams. This collaborative approach not only enhances the learning experience but also reinforces the importance of diverse perspectives and voices in discussions surrounding gender equality.
Encouraging young men to step into the shoes of women's experiences, fostering a connection that promotes compassion and understanding.
Removing guilt and shame surrounding gender expectations from the conversation, students connect on a deeper level, creating an inclusive and supportive community capable of open and respectful discussion.
Facilitators guide participants through open discussion to identify the necessary steps to support and uplift the women in their lives, acknowledging the importance of speaking up, calling out others, and creating an environment that supports positive change.
Through sharing personal stories participants look at the influence of women in shaping their journeys and gain greater appreciation for the impactful women in their lives.
Participants explore women's challenges, realise and redefine their masculinity, and shape their future attitudes and actions towards allyship.
Join this transformative journey - it’s an investment in the future well-being of not only young men but the whole school community. Together we can create a tomorrow where gender equality is not just a goal, but a lived reality in every classroom and beyond.
Both are equally impactful as our facilitators are also well-trained to engage online group settings – yes, even beyond those tech mishaps! Just ask.
